REVIEWS:
  • Sundance - "When it comes to horror, in my book smaller is always better. One of the good things about lower-budget/indie horror movies, is that the filmmakers, if they’re truly creative, learn to make do with the less is more approach. Think of Spielberg being stuck with a shark that didn’t work for JAWS. Would the film have been better with a scary, working shark? Nope. "

THOR: DARK WORLD PREZI PRESENTATION, YOUSSOF MALLAH

Thore: The Dark World Roisin Matthews

Thor 2 is the sequel to the film Thor which achieved outstanding reviews and a great reception at the box office. Thor 2 was produced by Marvel Studios and directed by Alan Taylor (who has also directed tv shows such as Mad Men and Game Of Thrones). They had a budget of $170 million, meaning they were able to have stars such as Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston. Thor 2 is being marketed in several different ways; it has posters on public transport (pictured) and adverts on tv. Thor 2 also had an incident where the poster had been photoshopped by a fan to have the character Loki in the place of Jane, which was then believed to be real by a cinema in China who then used the fan-made poster to promote the film.

Thor 2 has synergy with the Lego brand, creating Thor inspired Lego toys (pictured). It is being released in the UK on the 30th of October. It was released in the US on the 8th of November and it has achieved massive earnings, making $86.11 million in the first week of being released in the US.

It will be available in cinemas, on Blu-Ray and DVD, online (on websites such as netflix) and available in 3D in several cinemas. They have used social media to market the movie, creating pasges on tumblr, twitter, facebook etc to reach all audiences and using this to reach their target audience: 13+ year olds.

Competition with other films in the same week

The movie 'In fear' will have a very difficult time to compete with other mainstream films being released at the same time such as Hunger games: mocking Jay with big companies promoting through lots of advertisements. This is due to the lack of advertisements and sponsorship they earn from the fact that they are an independent British company not world wide publicized globally. The company would have to compete to get the movie known for the reviews to become more positive whilst gain more financially due to the fact it is produced with a low budget.

Marketing
We understand that marketing aims to engage the audiences to watch the movie, this is vital for the movie to gain lots of good reviews and for the viewers to spend fortunate for the box office to increase. This is done through:
Trailer, poster, DVD, merchandises, bill boards, conventions, magazine,

Target Audiences
The target audiences they aim at is 12+ due to the genre's that is included to the movie, which specifies the class classification aiming at a specific audience. We could look at this in a way that we suspect that they aim towards 12A looking towards teenagers through the internet such as Facebook, twitter and tumblr. The genre's give an impression to the amount of restrictions their is for the limited age, we could suspect this in a way through the amount of violence used in a movie which can be inappropriate to the selected target audience.

Synergy
The synergy has been used through the Lego company modeling their toys to produce their financial gain in order to promote the company and Thor itself, these to companies work with each other in order to promote their own product to their consumers.

Another synergy used to promote Thor is through Skype. Skype has featured the film premiere for the actors to roam around the red carpet to meet and greet the audiences. Skype has sponsored Thor 2 through the premiere in order to work with each other to promote both of the companies.

Distribution
The distribute for Thor 2 has been distributed by Disney walts. Disney walts is known for creating famous animation and cartoons for example the lion king or snow white, this is combined with marvel which is also known for heroic comics from the creators of avengers and Thor which is both created by the same company.  The format availability will be used to display the film such as online internet for example netflix, for the audiences to watch the movie online rather than go cinema due to the fact that internet is much more broader and easier to access to through the development of advanced technology such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops and many more.
